There is something about farming games that just scratches the “cottagecore” itch and fulfills the fantasy of living an idyllic life while tending to a beautiful garden. Thankfully, since time immemorial in the world of video games, there have always been games that cater to this interest.
Whether you started with the original Harvest Moon or just joined in during Stardew Valley’s time, there’s a newcomer in this beloved genre that should be on your radar: Fields of Mistria. Let’s dive in to see why this new game might become your new farming sim game obsession! Looking for more farming games? Check out Steam accounts for sale at U7BUY. With affordable accounts preloaded with games and other features, you might get lucky and find that one farming sim game you’ve been eyeing for a while. Happy gaming, farmers!
You Get an Adorable Farm in Fields of Mistria
It wouldn’t be a farming sim game without a farm! Luckily, Fields of Mistria’s farm style and mechanics will feel familiar to veterans of the genre. Plus, it looks absolutely cute!
Similar to games like Stardew Valley and Stardew Valley itself, you start with a field overrun with sticks and stones that you later shape into the farm of your dreams. You can focus on the usual crops or grow beautiful flowers.
In addition to planting, you can raise adorable livestock, too. From the trailers shown, there are cows, chickens, horses, and even llamas, and you can breed them to get rare coat colors.
But it’s not just your homestead that you need to improve and beautify. The town has been ravaged by an earthquake, and you’ll have to help restore it to its former glory. We’ll have to see if it has a similar Joja route, though.
You Can Woo and Befriend the Town Residents
Just like the previous entry, it wouldn’t be similar to games like Harvest Moon without the ability to woo and marry a character! In Fields of Mistria, there are 12 marriage candidates. The devs have already revealed 10 of them, but two remain a mystery.
Other than these bachelors and bachelorettes, the game also allows you to get to know other residents. Over 30 characters will have their own stories!
It’s Got an Adorable Pixel Style
When it comes to nostalgia and charm, the original Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley’s pixel style can’t be beaten. Just like these farming sim game pioneers, Fields of Mistria also has the same graphic style that we know and love.
The art style also harkens back to 90s anime, so if you love that aesthetics or grew up in that era of your anime, you’ll be right at home in this game.
There Is Magic, Battling, and Adventuring
If fighting monsters and spelunking in caves were your favorite activities in games like Stardew Valley, you’ll be happy to know that Fields of Mistria has that feature, too!
Use magic when you’re adventuring or even when you’re managing your farm (it makes planting so much easier). However, there’s a mystery behind Mistria’s magic, and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of it!
It’s Off to an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ Start on Steam
Despite its Early Game (EA) status, Fields of Mistria is already off to a wonderful start on Steam!
Garnering over 2,500 reviews after its August 6th release, players praise it for its gameplay, art, witty and funny dialogue, and for being a polished EA game already. So if you’re looking for more games like Stardew Valley or the original Harvest Moon, Fields of Mistria might be the dream game for you!
